Alas, the day I have been waiting for has come, when the motorized singletrack becomes a big continuous loop at MERA! In 2019, the last stretches of Dead Bull reached the top of MERA and connected to North Knob so now you can ride a big loop all on singletrack. The finishing touches were a stretch of gnarly trail working up the steep mountain and delivering you to some great views. The completion gives you the best continuous dirtbike and mountain bike loop in all of MERA.
Once I dubbed this the flattest trail at MERA, because it made a very nice tour around the edge of a contour line, but now that as changed as the extension of the trail ends up taking you higher up the mountain. The route meanders quite nicely through the short trees on the ridge for starters. Then, after the intersection with Snag, the middle section of trail is compliments of a Imbler student senior project by Blake Frost. The feature to the far north is fantastic, surely a signature moment of MERA riding as the trail winds down the top of an open and rocky ridge with a good look at the Blue Mountains. I was hoping this trail would be called Frostline or some other term with "Frost" in it, because that would be fitting in several ways.
The "frost" section ends where it crosses the road and meets with the other end of Snag. From there it works its way down up and then down to a low point before the final push up to the top. The ride up top works the slope with tight turns and some technical narrow riding through the trees that will test your skillset. This is all new, so will eventually get worked in.
There are also several side trail options to stack figure-8 or add on loops based on your preferences, if you combine some roads and double-track for short connectors.
