Trail Description

When the snow fills in enough, the back side of the Anthony Lakes Ski Area opens for some fun ski terrain with a mix of glades and nicely spaced tree skiing. To do it the human powered way, follow the track here by skinning up the Road Run and up Avalanche, or take a more scenic route through Hoffer Lakes...or just take the lift up. Then ski off the back with about any line you want because it all funnels down to the cat track at the bottom. From the bottom, you can follow back up, or pick your own way. Cat skiing doesn't happen throughout the winter, so at times you can have it as a more genuine backcountry experience. Otherwise, enjoy the cat ridge and have some fun on these lines that get progressively steeper the farther left you go.

The prevailing winds come from the south or southwest so the snow can be blown off of these slopes and they do get a lot of sun. Keep this in mind when looking for the best snow, as Angell Basin's north facing slopes may be a better alternative at times.
